1. What QuizMaxx is
A study tool for pub-quiz general knowledge: spaced-repetition flashcards, map quizzes, music and picture rounds, and a mock quiz. Most of it runs entirely in your browser.
2. Everything is free
The whole of QuizMaxx is free: every question, picture, map and round, the full scheduler, cross-device sync of your study progress (create an account and it is stored and synced at no charge), and automatic answer marking — a model gives typed answers a second opinion when exact matching cannot, within a fair-use daily allowance, and you can switch it off. Most of it works without an account. There is no paid tier, and nothing in the app is for sale.
3. Tips
Where the app shows a tip jar (in Settings), you can leave a tip: a one-off payment towards the running of QuizMaxx, taken on its own page by our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, as merchant of record. A tip is a gift, not a purchase. It buys nothing and unlocks nothing, it creates no subscription and needs no account, and the app keeps no record of who gave. If something went wrong with a tip — the wrong amount, or given twice — email support@quizmaxx.app.
4. Your account
Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. One account is for one person. Tell us promptly if you think it has been compromised.
5. Your data and your progress
Your study progress is yours. You can export it at any time from Settings, and you can keep using the app forever with the export you took. See the Privacy Policy.
6. What we don't promise
QuizMaxx is provided "as is". We aim to keep it available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we may change or discontinue features.
The questions may be wrong. Much of the content was imported or drafted at speed and is not exhaustively fact-checked; the app says so where the risk is highest. It is a study aid, not a reference work. Do not rely on it for anything that matters, and please report errors.
The music previews are streamed from third-party services and may stop working if those services change. That is outside our control.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
7. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service, resell access, or share an account with the world. The content is not yours to redistribute — see LICENCE.md.
Automated collection. The question sets, the daily briefs, the news issues and the media indexes took years to assemble and are the substance of what this site is. You may not use crawlers, scrapers, headless browsers, downloaders or any other automated means to copy them in bulk, and you may not use them to train, fine-tune or evaluate a machine-learning model — whether or not the files happen to be reachable without an account. This does not restrict search engines indexing the public pages in the ordinary way, nor anything the LICENCE permits, nor of course reading the site yourself with a normal browser.
We may suspend an account that does these things, and will normally warn you first. We may also rate-limit or block traffic that looks automated, with no warning at all, because by then there is usually nobody to warn.
8. Ending it
You may stop at any time. We may end or suspend an account for a serious or repeated breach of section 7, or if we discontinue the service.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you keep the protection of your local mandatory consumer law.
